Product Details
When the conversation turns to the Club Car DS Potentiometer (MCOR), most people know it refers to the throttle position sensor. MCOR stands for Motor Controller Output Regulator, and it plays a key role in how your golf cart accelerates.
This small black plastic unit is installed beneath the seat on Club Car DS models and connects to linkage coming from under the floorboard. When you press the accelerator pedal, a gear inside the MCOR rotates, changing the electrical resistance sent to the controller.
At rest, the sensor sends approximately 5,000 ohms to the controller, indicating no throttle input. As the accelerator pedal is pressed, the resistance gradually drops until it reaches zero ohms at full throttle, allowing the controller to deliver maximum power.
Over time, the MCOR can wear out and begin sending inaccurate resistance readings. For example, instead of the proper range, it may output 7,000 to 2,000 ohms, which can cause a dead spot in the throttle or prevent the cart from reaching full speed. Replacing the MCOR restores smooth and responsive acceleration.
This MCOR is designed for Club Car DS electric models. On DS carts, the unit is located under the seat, unlike newer models such as the Club Car Precedent, where the MCOR is integrated into the accelerator pedal assembly.
